Patrick O’Donnell
President & Chief Executive Officer
With over 25 years of experience in the medical device industry and orthobiologics industries, Patrick O’Donnell has established a successful company building track record. As the C-Level executive officer of several companies, he has built and led Board of Directors and Executive Management teams and raised over $85M in capital to fund and execute product development and clinical programs towards regulatory milestones and the pathway to liquidity. In addition to his leadership and Board of Directors role at NanoHive Medical, Patrick serves on the Board of Directors for ChitogenX Inc., a Canada-based publicly traded regenerative medicine company, and an advisor to the Board of Directors of U.K-based Renovos Biologics Ltd. and Ireland-based XTremedy Medical. Patrick’s prior experience includes, most recently, the General Manager and Executive Vice-President of North America for BoneSupport A.B. Prior to BoneSupport, Patrick held CEO roles at Proteothera, Histogenics, Prochon-BioTech, and management roles with J&J DePuy Spine and Confluent Surgical.
DEREK Tsechrintzis
Chief Financial Officer
Derek Tsechrintzis has 25 years of experience, with the last 19 years being in the medical device field with Candela Medical. While at Candela Medical, he held various financial roles and developed expertise in a wide range of financial disciplines. His background includes commercial strategy, FP&A, global business unit support, M&A diligence and integrations, as well as accounting. In his most recent capacity at Candela, Derek served as the VP of Global Commercial Finance, where he played a vital role in driving revenue growth and earnings expansion. In a prior role as Global VP of FP&A, he collaborated closely with the Executive Leadership team to establish financial goals and formulate strategies aimed at achieving the company’s financial objectives. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Merrimack College.
Ian Helmar
Founder, Chief Technology Officer
Ian Helmar, founder of NanoHive Medical, developed the proprietary lattice, which is the basis for NanoHive’s product portfolio. Ian has over 10 years of engineering experience in the spine market, designing complex instruments and 3D printed spinal implants. Since 2016, Ian has served as head of Research and Development and has led the development of all of NanoHive’s product lines. Ian holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
David Rattigan
Vice-President of Sales
In 2019, with 18 years of experience in the medical device industry with a focus on spine and biologics, David Rattigan joined NanoHive Medical as Area Vice President of Sales. In 2020, David was promoted to Vice President of Sales, and now manages national sales efforts and strategies. Prior to joining NanoHive, David was Regional Manager with Titan Spine (acquired by Medtronic) and spent 15 years prior with Medtronic’s Spine and Biologics business. He has achieved multiple accolades in his career, including Presidents Club, Pyramid of Excellence, Region of the Year and is a past volunteer with Healing The Children’s Medical Mission trips to China.
Ken Dieselman
Vice-President of Marketing
Ken Dieselman has over 15 years of professional experience in the spinal implant and biologics markets, building and managing Marketing and Engineering teams. Prior to joining NanoHive, Ken held VP and Senior Director roles at Stryker Spine, K2M Spine, Smith & Nephew and J&J DePuy Spine. Ken graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Boston University with a Masters in Business Administration.
Christy Rickrode
Quality Manager
Prior to joining the team at NanoHive Medical, Christy Rickrode worked as a a Senior Development Engineer for FloSpine. In 2018, Christy became a member of the NanoHive Quality team and has successfully navigated FDA audits and continues to maintain NanoHive’s strict standards of compliance, in various facets of the business. Christy holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Biomechanics from the University of Florida as well as a certificate in General Additive Manufacturing.
Kaveh Khajavi, MD
Medical Officer
Dr. Khajavi is a leading board-certified neurosurgeon and a recognized leader in the field of minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, as well as sports neurosurgery. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine through a scholarship from the US Air Force. After completing a neurosurgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic, he returned to active duty and served in the Department of Neurosurgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He founded Georgia Spine & Neurosurgery Center in 2002 and currently holds clinical faculty appointments at Mercer and Georgia State Universities.

Founder of NanoHive Medical
Ian Helmar is one of the founders of NanoHive Medical with 10 years of experience in spinal implants. As the head of R&D for NanoHive since 2016, Ian designed the company’s core technology and has led the development effort of the Hive product lines. Ian holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Sami El-Saden
Myriad Opportunity Management, LLC
Sami is currently the Chairman of Verrix LLC, a bio-medical device company that is a spin-off from the California Institute of Technology and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is an investor in, and board member of, several other privately owned middle-market consumer products companies as well as the Northwestern Settlement house, a non-profit that supports inner-city families in Chicago.
Greg Hoffman
Managing Director
Greg was a founding member of Portfolio Group, Resources Management Group, Global Group and Veritas Insurance, all acquired by Portfolio Abry Partners, where he is currently a strategic advisor and board member. He also holds the position of managing partner of Hoffco Holdings and strategic advisor to Fasten Card and Pauldron. Greg is a frequent speaker and contributor to AICPA, among other related industry organizations, and assists automotive law firms in valuations, disputes, and alternative structures. He holds a BA in economics and finance from Providence College.
David Scott
Managing Director
David Scott has over 30 years experience supporting our National Security interests in both technical and executive positions. He was a co-founder and CEO of Xator Corporation that was acquired by Parsons Corporation. In addition, Mr. Scott leads his family office that has invested in a broad range of industries including multiple Medical Technology companies.
