With 25 years of experience in the medical device and biologics industry, Patrick O’Donnell has established a track record of success. As an executive officer of several companies, he has built and led Board of Directors and Executive Management teams and raised over $80M in capital to fund and execute product development and clinical programs towards regulatory milestones. Patrick’s prior experience includes, most recently, the General Manager and Executive Vice-President of North America for BoneSupport A.B. Prior to BoneSupport, Patrick held CEO roles at Proteothera, Histogenics, Prochon-BioTech, and management roles with J&J DePuy Spine.
Chief Financial Officer
Tim Jette spent over 25 years at Medtronic in a variety of financial roles and has gained extensive experience in commercial channel strategy, global business unit support, complex manufacturing networks, M&A and acquisition integration, as well as technical accounting. Most recently, at Medtronic, Tim held the position of CFO of the Americas Cardiac and Vascular Group, helping drive growth in a $6B commercial channel. Prior to that, he was CFO for the Global Structural Heart Business, aiding in the launch of the transcatheter heart valve in Europe and the US. Tim began his career as a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand in Boston and holds a BS in Finance/Accounting from Boston College, as well as an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business.
Co-Founder, Vice-President of Research & Development
Ian Helmar, founder of NanoHive Medical, developed the proprietary lattice, which is the basis for NanoHive’s product portfolio. Ian has over 10 years of engineering experience in the spine market, designing complex instruments and 3D printed spinal implants. Since 2016, Ian has served as head of Research and Development and has led the development of all of NanoHive’s product lines. Ian holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Vice-President of Sales
In 2019, with 18 years of experience in the spine and biologics market, David Rattigan joined NanoHive Medical as Area Vice President of Sales. In 2020, David was promoted to Vice President of Sales, and now manages national sales efforts and strategies. Prior to joining NanoHive, David was Regional Manager with Titan Spine (acquired by Medtronic) and spent 15 years prior with Medtronic’s Spine and Biologics business. He has achieved multiple accolades in his career, including Presidents Club, Pyramid of Excellence, Region of the Year and is a past volunteer with Healing The Children’s Medical Mission trips to China.
Vice-President of Marketing
Ken Dieselman has over 15 years of professional experience in the spinal implant and biologics markets, building and managing Marketing and Engineering teams. Prior to joining NanoHive, Ken held VP and Senior Director roles at Stryker Spine, K2M Spine, Smith & Nephew and J&J DePuy Spine. Ken graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Boston University with a Masters in Business Administration.
Prior to joining the team at NanoHive Medical, Christy Rickrode worked as a a Senior Development Engineer for FloSpine. In 2018, Christy became a member of the NanoHive Quality team and has successfully navigated FDA audits and continues to maintain NanoHive’s strict standards of compliance, in various facets of the business. Christy holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Biomechanics from the University of Florida as well as a certificate in General Additive Manufacturing.
Kaveh Khajavi, MD
Dr. Khajavi is a leading board-certified neurosurgeon and a recognized leader in the field of minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, as well as sports neurosurgery. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine through a scholarship from the US Air Force. After completing a neurosurgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic, he returned to active duty and served in the Department of Neurosurgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He founded Georgia Spine & Neurosurgery Center in 2002 and currently holds clinical faculty appointments at Mercer and Georgia State Universities.
Medical Device Investor
After selling his successful Roofing Supply Group company, Rodney Burns developed a passion for investing and subsequently invested in one of the leading providers of a cloud based integrated Workplace Management System, with over 100 major brands. Currently, Rodney is focused on investing in the medical industry, and he continues to be a lead investor and board member for multiple medical device and regenerative medicine companies.
CEO of Rysher Entertainment
Timothy Helfet is an investor and principal in various privately held companies and has served as a board member for profit and non-profit companies. In 1991, Tim Helfet joined Rysher Entertainment as Chief Operating Officer, and later became President and CEO of the company, in 1997. A native of South Africa, Tim graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1972 with a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in 1975.

Ian Helmar is one of the founders of NanoHive Medical with 10 years of experience in spinal implants. As the head of R&D for NanoHive since 2016, Ian designed the company’s core technology and has led the development effort of the Hive product lines. Ian holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Christopher Laine, PhD
Co-Founder of NanoHive Medical
A long-time roboticist and entrepreneur, Chris Jones began in medical devices developing robotic exoskeletons for clinical rehabilitation and to study human biomechanics and neuroscience. He has leveraged this skillset to commercialize several orthopedic and electromechanical medical devices through the FDA. Since founding NanoHive, Chris has led laboratory and clinical research programs as well as technology innovation and intellectual property. He is active in the academic and entrepreneurial community, mentoring entrepreneurs and peer reviewing for publications.
CFO of AccuVein & Cheetah Medical
Kevin McArdle is an Advisor to the Managing Directors. He is an experienced, strategic CFO with an extensive background in debt and equity fund raising (public and private), licensing, and internal control systems. Kevin is the current CFO of AccuVein, Inc. and previously was the CFO of Cheetah Medical, Histogenics, and Prochon- BioTech.
